Notes for Peter Celestine Strittmatter
Celestine was a farmer and in 1893 inherited his father’s 115 acre farmlands in Carroll Twp., Cambria Co. Pa. In 1900, he was a 42 year old farmer and widower, born in Pa., who owned a "free farm". Resident children were "Mary C" (age 14), Coletta E (age 10 with 6 mos. schooling), and "Raymond F" (age 8), all born in Pa.

By 1910, Celestine apparently relocated to Huntingdon County without his children, and took a job at a saw mill. The five children are found in Philadelphia, living at 999 Sixth Street with their affluent physician uncle and aunt, Isadore and Clara Strittmatter.

In 1917, Celestine remarried in Philadelphia. By 1920, he returned to farming with his much younger second wife, and started a new family in Gloucester County, N. J.
Notes for Rosanna Emily (Spouse 1)
Rosa was raised in Allegheny Township, Cambria County, Pa. She died of the consumption, i.e. tuberculosis.
