Notes for Peter Farabaugh
Peter was raised on the family farm in Carroll Township, Cambria Co., Pa. He attended the Eckenrode/Weber school and took over the farm after his father died in 1884. He cared for his mother and started a family there with his wife Lizzie. In 1898, Peter bought out his siblings interests in the farm for $1,080. The 1900 Census shows that his brothers Sebastian and Edward were still living there. Peter assumed the duties of township Supervisor when East Carroll Township was formed in 1910, and played a role in improving the area roads and establishing schoolhouses.
In 1917, Peter and Lizzie bought a house in Carrolltown, but continued to run the farm until their son Gilbert took over in 1926. They spent their remaining years in town with their daughter Mary.
