Mary, aka “May,” lived with her Miller grandparents. The 1910 Census of Jeanette, Pa., lists Joseph Miller as a 72 retiree who immigrated in 1855 and owns a free home. Margaret is listed as his 76 year old wife of 50 years, born in Pa. They had 12 children, 8 of whom were living. In the household were their 10 year old grandson Albert Miller, 9 year old grand-daughter Adolphina Miller, and 18 year old grand-daughter Mary Fairbaugh.

Augustine was a teacher in his youth in both Pennsylvania and Colorado. He graduated from Normal School in Indiana, Pa., in 1917. He was an Army veteran of WWI and the 1920 Census identified him as an engineer in general practice.

in 1930, Augustine and May were in Spangler, Pa., where he was a life insurance agent. Between 1935 and 1940, they settled in Carrolltown, Pa., where “A.J.” is again indentified as an insurance agent.
