Vince lived in Altoona, Pa. He was a fireman for the Pittsburgh division of the Pennsylvania Railroad, and later a locomotive engineer for Conrail. Vince was a well-known athlete at Altoona High, prior to his service in the Army during WWII. He served as a basketball coach for local youth teams.
