Notes for Aloysius (Spouse 1)
Aloysius came to America with his widowed mother in 1833 and settled in Allegheny Township, Cambria Co., Pa. He bought and maintined a farm for about 14 years before removing to White Township, which was later within Chest Township. It was here that he acquired two of the oldest and largest farms.

Aloysius’ Last Will and Testament, executed a few months before he died, indicated that he lived in Chest Township, Cambria Co., Pa. He bequeathed the 230 acre “Proudfoot Farm” to his son Henry, excepting certain items given to his wife Mary: two horses, one cow, one sewing machine, 13 head of sheep and $1200 in 12 equal payments. Henry also was to pay grandsons Aloysius H. Swope and John M. Swope $300 when they attained the age of 21. The 405 acre “Glen Connell” farm was to be subdivided among other children.
