Notes for Arthur Raymond Farabaugh
Art and Mary settled at R.D., Loretto, Pa. Art was an Army veteran. He operated the family dairy farm and was active in various local organizations. He won multiple prizes for his dairy cattle at the 1951 Cambria County Fair. In 1959, he was elected Secretary-Treasurer for the local Inter-State Milk Producers Cooperative. In March of 1965, his herd had top honors issued by the county Dairy Heard Improvement Association. In that month, he had 34 cows that produced 1,157 pounds of milk and 50 pounds of butterfat. He became Vice President of the association in 1967.

In 1983, Art noticed a shiny object in his farm pond, which turned out to be a 1974 Monte Carlo owned by a Joel Cuban of Pittsburgh. The car had been stolen by Brian F. Novak, 22, of Sankertown and driven onto the property after spinning in a cornfield, crossing a road, careening through two barbed wire fences and launching into the air before landing and sinking in the pond. Novak was found drowned in the vehicle and the incident, which occurred 5 days prior to Art’s discovery, was determined to be alcohol related. Scuba divers from the Wilmore Volunteer Fire Company recovered the vehicle.
